Fit to Be Pink at Club USA

October is National Breast Cancer awareness month. With this in mind Club USA picked Thursday, October 22nd to hold a club wide event called, “Fit to be Pink.”  Club members were asked to wear pink and were encouraged to invite guests whose $5 guest fee donation went to Sense of Security, a Denver based organization that gives financial support to women undergoing breast cancer treatment.

The fun did not stop there…instructors were asked to add some special events in their classes to raise money.  All members were able to participate in the raffle with great prizes like a round of golf for 4 at Red Rocks Country Club, a $40 gift certificate to Murdock’s’ Grooming Salon, 1 free month at The RedZone-Club USA’s functional training center, a free european facial,  8 free personal training certificates, a free session of 6 boxing classes and a free metabolic test.

As the instructor of the 5:30 AM Pure Muscle/TRX class I knew we needed to show those who think that there is no life before 6 am that they are totally wrong.

Fit to Be Pink

Class started with class members betting on which of the male members came with their toenails painted pink. (They had been warned ahead of time that this needed to happen…the ladies in class were all giggling).  If they lost the bet they made a donation.  Those males who did not come with their toes painted had their finger nails painted pink during their 1:30 minute plank hold.

During class there were jump rope competitions, med ball toss and balance competitions, Bosu ball games, sit up games, TRX races, etc.  If you completed the activity you didn’t donate….if you didn’t you made a donation.  When all was said and done the class ended up donating $125 to Sense of Security while getting their sweat on and having a great time.
